Background

Ema Skye grew up with her older sister after their parents passed away. Lana took care of her more as a maternal figure, but she still kept the “older sister” persona until the very end. Ema was rather young at the time, but while her sister was working on the Joe Drake killings case nine years prior to her current status now she was under suspect of murder. Ema was trapped in a room with Mr. Drake (who was obviously guilty), and would have been held as a hostage when Neil Marshall showed up to save the day after chasing the murderer into Lana and Gant’s shared office. There had been a power outage during his questioning and Neil wasn’t about to let him get away. He was killed, but it wasn’t until Ema was sixteen that the entire case was cleared up for, not just her, but everyone. She grew up with a passion for science, and even Lana humoured her and bought her gifts from forensic sites just so she could play and test.

It wasn’t until the murder of Bruce Goodman did things start to get hectic in her life. Lana Skye was seen stabbing Bruce Goodman and stuffing him into Miles Edgeworth's car by Angel Starr and Ema couldn’t think of anything else to do. Instead she enlisted the help of one Phoenix Wright who had just become pretty popular and famous around the area. While Phoenix hadn’t taken a case since Maya Fey had left, Ema convinced him to help and she too told him she’d do anything she could to help get her sister off for the murder of the man. She had faith in Lana that she didn’t kill the man despite Lana admitting her own guilt.

With the evidence list a mile long, and even Edgeworth was helping to see about getting his boss off the hook (even if he was the prosecutor for the case) in the end they discovered that Lana had been black mailed by Damon Gant since the Joe Drake killings - and that Miles’ “forged evidence” rumour turned out to be true, but only because Gant was the one who gave it to him. All to protect Ema Skye from being found guilty of murdering Neil Marshall actually saved her life (which she didn’t actually murder, in fact she merely pushed the wrong person and knocked him out). Gant, however as it was soon revealed, was the one who murdered Neil, to Jake Marshall’s dismay. He even made a scene about in court and Ema decided that even though he seemed really nice, she’d rather not go swimming with that man.

It was a two long years later that she saw her sister again, but it was still only a brief time. It would have been longer, Ema assumes, but Lana was out of jail and back home with her same job (assuming). Ema didn’t think twice about the release but she broke the news to her sister rather quick on her eighteenth birthday: she was going to Europe to study abroad so she may become a forensic scientist. Lana, while saddened she’d have to see her sister go so soon, was quite proud of her decision.

Ema studied long and hard, even passed her exam in Europe and was looking forward to working hard in her field of study, but something called her back to America. She was still in debt to an old friend, though even if he wasn’t a defense attorney any more, she would do anything in her power to help him out. But when she returned her job was not that of a Forensic Investigative Scientist, but that as a mere detective. This frustrated her. How could she repay Phoenix for his help when she was practically useless? Not wanting to be compared to how the senior detective used to act, Ema did her best to be top notch.

But that gimmerous fop bugged her with his rock-star attitude and his carefree smile. She only did her work and let him handle the rest - even the rest of the force was relieved to be working to find the evidence instead of being dismissed.

It wasn’t until the murder of a doctor that she ran into one Apollo Justice and Trucy Wright. Though she dismissed them before as just children playing, when they returned with the finger print powder she was shocked by the fact he was working at Wright and Co. Offices (though more shocked to hear that it was a mere talent agency now) and that Trucy was Mr. Wright’s daughter. She worked with them through each of their cases, even stumbling upon the murder scene with Apollo at one point in time making sure that it’d help make it up to Phoenix any way she could. It worked, of course, that she eventually succeeded in repaying the dept to Phoenix when she lent him her spray bottle to detect the poison on some new evidence he thought he had. She’s very dedicated what she does, and takes up part in Phoenix’s investigation of the murder of Drew Misham.

That trial is one she’ll never forget. Through evidence and sheer perseverence it was revealed that Kristoph Gavin, Klavier’s older brother had planned out the murder of Drew Misham and his young daughter seven years prior. The biggest discrepancy was the lack of evidence. And previously he had killed Shadi Smith (proved to be Shadi Enigmar, Trucy’s father) in which no motive was established. It was terrible that she was called to the stand only to be made a mockery of - her employer Klavier Gavin really did make her feel useless that day. Yet when Vera nearly died, and Kristoph’s haunting laugh echoed through the court she was even more so determined to retake her exam. Their lack of evidence scared her (Kristoph scares her) so she decided to go back to school and told Mr. Gavin she’d help with anything he needed as long as it was mere paper work. She knew that by saying “Anything” it’d open the door for much more then mere “Fräulein Detective, could you help me with this song?”.

Personality

She seems to be easily irritable but she’s really helpful in the end. Ema is forward, blunt, but has a way with words to either make your eyes roll or to keep you interested. Once you get her started on her scientific investigation there’s no stopping her! In fact, Ema is always bright eyed and cheerful when she gets to use the toys she brings along with her. However she comes off as slightly bitter, being that she didn’t get her job in forensics but was merely put on the force as a detective though part of this is because of one Klavier Gavin who uses her how he sees fit. She personally thinks he’s nothing more then a “glimmerous fop” but deep down she really appreciates him for actually relying on the force rather then how Miles Edgeworth used to work by investigating the scene himself. Secretly she finds him attractive but that’s just it- it’s a secret. She’d die if any one found out, especially Klavier himself as it’s embarrassing to think about so she settles for degrading him in a tame way any chance she gets.

Appearance

Ema seems to look nothing like her sister, Chief Prosecutor Lana Skye, however over the past seven years her facial features have filled out more over time, giving her a more mature appearance. More to the fact Lana hardly smiled, and Ema follows that same route most of the time. Ema has long brown hair that she keeps up and back in a pony tail and clip so the tips are seen from behind her head. Her brown eyes almost seem dull from her work as a detective, but don’t let that fool you - get her started on the scientific investigative work and she lights up like a star. She carries with her a brown messenger bag like from her old “investigative” days but she’s changed much in appearance with the exception of a long white lab coat. Detective Skye is hardly ever seen without her white blouse, green vest, and red bow-looking tie, but that’s only because it’s her uniform on the job. The one things she’ll never be without are the pink tinted glasses that sit right atop of her head.

Relationships

guilty_love Mr. Gavin is nothing but a boss to her desptie the fact that she's sort of attracted to him. As of late, however she's found that she is enjoying him more as a friend. Despite is advice is crude and many times inappropriate she actually listens to him. Klaver Gavin, while still nothing more than a glimmerous fop, is someone she can probably go to in a time of need. She feels lonely as of late and Mr. Gavin has been helping her out... not that he knows.

chiefprosecutor Lana Skye, her sister and closest friend. If there is anything she needs she can go to her, though their relationship has been strained a bit recently because of Ema's poor word choice. Ema, being older then Lana is used to, can't seem to find the right words to say any more in order to get her sister to stop being mad at her. Sorry, she feels, won't cut it as she has said it before. Ema also believes it's partly because of her relationship with her boyfriend, Komui Lee, and the events currently.

d_a_justice Apollo Justice, ace attorney, and the prodigy to Mr. Wright, she's both grateful and irritated. This means she's going to have to explain a few things, but at least she has someone else from her own time to rely on. With Mr. Wright being her age, she's only had to deal with Mr. Gavin at this point. She's debating on taking Apollo's class to both mock him and actually learn what he's going to teach in the following semester.

mutatio_genorum Lucrecia Cresent is her science buddy. While they haven't spoken much recently, she's excited for the prospective friendship they may obtain in the future. She notes that she'll have to speak with her more.

lazysupervisor Komui Lee is not only her boyfriend, but her closesst friend as of late. She can go to him for pretty much everything...or well she could until Pearl Fey was "kidnapped". She's unsure how to handle their relationship as of late, depressed over the fact that he has to spend so much more time working in order to get the child back from the grasp of the enemy. She knows very little about his job, but she does know who is in the Black Order and the very basic of what it does. Ema is also carrying his child, which makes the entire scenario tough on both of them. She doesn't know what to do in order to keep his attention, but she also can't distract him from his job. It's almost a catch twenty two.

bighammertime She doesn't know Lavi personally, but she knows that he's a historian of the sorts and has a "girlfriend" by the name of Allen Walker. Ema's other boss, she works in the library with him while he's busy doing other things. She appreciates his advice and his support as well as the fact that he has given her something to do in her leave of absence from the police force. Ema is looking forward to talking to him more.

innocentsteps Lenalee Lee, Komui's younger sister and she's trying her best to befriend the girl. Not only is Lenalee also her teacher, she's someone she feels she can just be herself around. She normally doesn't have many female friends, and the two have gone out before between shopping and just getting to know each other. Ema thinks that Lenalee is a sweetheart, but she's noticing there are several similarities between Lenalee and Komui's past that are eerily close to her and Lana's. Ema doesn't know much, but she's curious to know more about the Lee siblings.
